About & Coaching Philosophy
Why Touchline Playbook Exists
Football has always been more than a game to me.
From a young age, it became my passion and the path I wanted to dedicate my life to. My ambition has never simply been to coach football—it has been to become the best coach I can be, continually learning, improving, and helping other coaches do the same.
That passion is what led me to create Touchline Playbook.
This platform exists for one simple reason:
To make coaching easier, clearer, and more practical for every football coach.
Throughout my coaching journey, I have worked with different clubs, coaches and coaching courses.
One thing became clear wherever I went.
There is plenty of football information available, but not enough that coaches can immediately understand and apply.
Too often, new coaches feel overwhelmed by the amount of information available.
Too often, coaches are left trying to figure everything out on their own.
I've experienced that myself.
I've been asked to deliver sessions with only minutes to prepare. The session was explained, but it wasn't always clear enough to confidently deliver.
That experience inspired Touchline Playbook.
Every resource is created with one question in mind:
Can a coach open this five minutes before training and confidently deliver a better session?
If the answer is no, it doesn't belong on this website.

My Coaching Background
Everything you'll find on Touchline Playbook comes from real football environments.
Over the years I have coached across grassroots football, development centres, academy-linked environments and senior men's football in both England and Portugal.
Those experiences have taught me that great coaching isn't about having the most complicated ideas.
It's about making football simple enough for players to understand while giving coaches the confidence to lead.
One of the proudest moments of my coaching journey has been helping develop players who have progressed into professional academies and senior football, including a player who went on to represent England at international level.
I've also worked within environments connected to respected clubs such as Sporting CP and Manchester City, experiences that have helped shape the way I think about coaching, player development and long-term progression.
I am a UEFA-qualified football coach, but more importantly, I believe learning never stops.
Every season.
Every session.
Every player.
Every coach.
There is always something new to learn.
My Coaching Philosophy
I believe football coaching should develop people before it develops players.
Every player deserves an environment where they can learn, enjoy the game and improve without unnecessary pressure.
Unfortunately, football doesn't always look like that.
Too many coaches spend ninety minutes shouting.
Too many treat children like professional footballers.
Too many focus only on winning.
I believe coaching should be different.
Players should be challenged.
Players should be encouraged.
Players should be allowed to make mistakes.
Most importantly, players should leave every session having learned something new.
Everything inside Touchline Playbook follows the same principles:
- Clarity
- Purpose
- Standards
- Decision-making
- Player development
Simple.
Clear.
Practical.
Easy to apply.
